Brooklyn based, Liars are Melbourne born Angus Andrew (vocals & pedals), Aaron Hemphill from LA (guitar & drum machine) and Nebraskians Pat Nature (bass & synthbox) and drummer Ron Albertson, who were both previously in seminal mid-west bands Opium Taylor and Mercy Rule, respectively. Liars made their live debut in January 2001 at Brownies in New York and spent the rest of the year playing dates in punk clubs throughout the USA, picking up a following and rave reviews along the way. Described by Time Out New York as "the hardest rockin' punk dance band EVER".
