Pindu Chandravinse, has 16 years. At that age he was a Sheli, a person in training to become a Sadhu. In a country where more than 400 million people live under the poverty line, leaving their homes to follow a Guru, is an option to escape the poverty reality. Sometimes it is not their option, families often decide for their children, putting their faith in the hands of a Guru.
A Sadhu's Life are a series of portraits about Sadhus (holy man) with who I had the pleasure to live with, in the Holy City of Varanasi (or Benares).
Varanasi is bathed by the river Ganges which is believed to wash away the sins of the mortals, and it is believed the river has its source in Shiva's footprints.
I felt like at home and more than having new friends, I suddenly got a whole new family and a guru to look after me.
In return for letting me step briefly in to their lives, I had to give something in return. I decided to show them something which I have a big passion for too - photography. I had the pleasure to introduce to them the magic of polaroid film, and I will never forget what an experience it was.
